B.Sc. (H) Polymer Science course was introduced in University of Delhi at Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences in 2004. The broad components of course include Polymer Technology, Polymer Processing Fibre Science, Rubber Technology, Chemical Technology and Polymer Blends & Composites. This program is designed to provide fundamental understanding of polymer science, engineering and technology. The Department of Polymer Science has well equipped Laboratories to train the students with synthesis, processing and testing of different types of polymers. The course gives exposure of the latest developments in the field of polymeric materials to the students and therefore equips them to cater needs of the fast-expanding polymer industry in India & Abroad. Pass out students are being well placed in various Polymer Industries and Academic Institutions in India and abroad.

The syllabus is designed in to give ample understandings of theoretical as well as experimental studies of polymer science enabling students to compete at the global level. Students also get opportunity for doing internship in industries and research organizations during their course of study. Further, students are also trained in handling, maintenance and trouble-shooting of various equipment’s available in the Laboratories. A few noteworthy equipment’s available in Laboratories are TGA/DTA, FT-IR Spectrometer, Universal Testing Machine, Injection Molding Machine, Two-Roll Mill, Single Screw Extruder, Heat Distortion Temperature apparatus, Melt Flow Index Tester (MFI), Oscillating Disc Rheometer (ODR), Digital Rockwell Hardness Tester, Hand lay Transfer molding machine, Failing Dart Impact Tester, UV- Visible Double Beam Spectrophotometer, Izod/Charpy Impact Tester, Spray Guns (Pressure and Suction), Incubator, Hydraulic Pellet, Muffle Furnace, Fuming Hood (Modern Lab), B-one Touch Viscometer, Optical Microscope, Abrasion Resistance Tester, Double Water Distillation Unit etc.
