Department of Physics has a physics society named Qubit. The society every year elects its executive committee. And the committee is instrumental in organising various events of the department. The events vary from lectures by eminent professors of various research institutes and alumni of the department, to field trips to research institutes and laboratories to get an exposure to the ongoing research work in the field of physics, and celebration activities for special occasions like Diwali, teacher’s day and freshers welcome and bidding farewell to the senior batch.
Events
The qubit society this year organised the following events-
- The students of Physics department presented a poster in “Science Day-2026 celebration” organised by IUAC on 28th Feb 2026 showcasing their research aptitude and teamwork. They got the opportunity to witness the research facilities in IUAC and interact with the scientists, motivating them to nurture scientific curiosity, research aptitude, and analytical thinking.
- A talk on “Career Pathways after BSc” by faculty members of Career Endeavour on 20th Feb 2026 in physics Lab. The team of career endeavour discussed various career opportunities available to students after completing their undergraduate studies and enlightened them about the path they should take to avail these opportunities.
- Organised Physics Fest “Episteme 2026” on 06th February 2026 which was a perfect blend of academic and extracurricular events. Students from all departments participated in the Presentation competition, quiz competition and other activities
- A lecture on “Semiconductor: Strategy and Future for India” by Dr Sunil Sharma Scientist ‘F’ and Additional Director DRDO, Ministry of Defence on 6th Feb 2026 in the Conference Room of the college. The lecture gave them an insight into the upcoming fields of research. Dr Sharma discussed the opportunities available to the students in coming years in the field of semiconductors, motivating them to prepare for future research, industry roles, and academic excellence, aligning them with India’s scientific growth.
- A talk on “Moving Objects with Light” by our alumnus Mr Ashutosh Shukla, currently pursuing a Ph.D at IISER Pune, on 28th January 2026 at 11:00am in Physics lab -I. The speaker not only helped the students learn about a new field of research but also shared his experiences as a student in Bhaskaracharya College and his journey to his current position.
- A talk on “Career opportunities in Physics” by our alumnus Dr Charu Garg on 27th October 2025 in the Physics Lab. She is presently working as an Embedded System Tester in Hilite International Company, Germany (Automotive Sector. The interaction helped the students identify the opportunities available for them in the industries.
